This course is designed to teach students the art of creating stitch braids, a unique and intricate braiding technique that is popular among clients with natural hair. Students will learn the tools and techniques required to create beautiful and neat stitch braids that can last for several weeks. The course will cover topics such as hair preparation, sectioning, braiding techniques, and maintenance.This course will be taught using both lecture and hands-on practice to ensure students gain the necessary skills to create beautiful stitch cornrow braids.
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
Complete a hair and scalp analysis.
Safely install stitch braids with extensions.
Identify and use the necessary tools, materials and products for protective styles.
Prepare natural hair for protective style installation.
Demonstrate proper braiding techniques and tension for twits.
Create various sizes and lengths of stitch braids.
Customize stitch braids to meet client preferences.
Identify and correct common mistakes in twist installation.
Understand the importance of proper maintenance and care of stitch braids.
There are no prerequisites for this course. This course is suitable for individuals who are interested in learning knotless box braid braiding techniques, including those who are new to braiding and those who have some prior braiding experience.
Assessment will be conducted through observation of students' practical work and completion of a final project. The final project will require students to create knotless box braids on a live model while incorporating the techniques and skills learned throughout the course.
