Beginner Braiding Techniques
This course is designed for students with little or no experience in hair braiding. Students will learn the basic tools and techniques required to create simple single braids, cornrows and twists on natural hair. The course will cover topics such as hair preparation, sectioning, braiding
techniques, and maintenance. This course will be taught using both lecture and hands-on practice to ensure students gain the necessary skills to create beautiful natural braid styles.
Develop a basic understanding of the tools and products required for hair braiding,
including combs, brushes, hair clips, styling gels, and hair oils.
Understand the importance of proper hair preparation, including detangling and
moisturizing hair before braiding.
Learn different braiding techniques, including the three-strand single braid, cornrows,
Learn to create different styles by combining different types of braids and twists.
Develop skills in sectioning and parting hair for different types of braids and twists.
Learn to maintain and care for braided hair, including tips for preventing breakage and promoting healthy hair growth.
There are no prerequisites for this course. This course is suitable for individuals who are interested in learning knotless box braid braiding techniques, including those who are new to braiding and those who have some prior braiding experience.
Assessment will be conducted through observation of students' practical work and completion of a final project. The final project will require students to create 4 different natural braiding techniques on a mannequin while incorporating the techniques and skills learned throughout the course.
